When will I get my auto-reimbursement? First month and monthly timing

Auto-reimbursement pays your monthly health premium back to you automatically. Your first month is paid as soon as your admin approves your setup. After that, payments run on a monthly schedule.

Your first month: paid when your admin approves

When you set up auto-reimbursement, we ask when coverage for your plan begins (your plan start month). Once your admin approves your setup, your first month is reimbursed right away. You don't have to wait for the monthly schedule, which helps if you've already paid your first premium (your binder payment).

The money usually reaches your bank account 3–5 business days after it's processed. Weekends and bank holidays can add a little time.

Your first month isn't paid automatically if:

  • Your admin approves after your plan start month has ended. For example, your plan starts in August, but your admin approves on September 3. Submit a One-Time Reimbursement for August.
  • That month was already reimbursed, for example through a One-Time Reimbursement. You won't be paid twice.
  • Your plan starts before your benefit begins. For example, your plan starts in August, but your ICHRA benefit starts in September. Your benefit only covers months when you're eligible, so August isn't paid. Your September premium is paid by the monthly schedule.

Every month after that

  • On the 25th of each month, we collect next month's reimbursement from your employer. For example, the September 25 run pays your October premium.
  • The money usually reaches your bank account around the 1st of the following month.

If your admin approves after the 25th

If your admin approves after that month's 25th run has already happened, we also pay next month right away, so you don't miss a month. If next month is your plan start month, your first-month payment already covers it.

Examples

Your plan has already started. Your plan starts October 1, and your admin approves on October 10.
→ October is paid after approval.
→ The October 25 run pays November, arriving around November 1.

Your admin approves after the 25th. Your plan starts October 1, and your admin approves on October 27.
→ October is paid after approval.
→ November is also paid after approval, because the October 25 run already happened.
→ Your next payment is December, arriving around December 1.

Your plan starts next month. Your plan starts in November. You finish setup on October 27, and your admin approves on October 28.
→ November is paid after approval and usually arrives 3–5 business days later.
→ Your next payment is December, arriving around December 1.
