Open Enrollment 2027 State FAQ
Most states use HealthCare.gov, where you can pick a plan as late as the last day of the month for coverage starting the 1st of the next month. The states below run their own marketplaces and have earlier cutoffs. If you live in one of them, make sure you enroll by your state's date, or your coverage may start a month later.
Our recommendation: whatever your state's cutoff, complete your enrollment at least a week before the date you want your coverage to start. Enrollments finished right at the deadline sometimes run into snags that push the start date back a month, and a week of breathing room gives you and our team time to sort them out.

Enrollment after the January 1 deadline but before Open Enrollment closes means coverage starts on the 1st of a later month. In most states, enrolling between December 16 and January 15 means coverage starts on February 1.
