For 2025-26 Enrollment:Why does my portal say my benefits are waived, or that I'm claiming a subsidy?

Your Benefits Portal dashboard shows your status for the year under Your status. If it says your benefits are waived, or that you're claiming a subsidy, your employer's allowance isn't being paid to you right now.

Here's what each status means and how to fix it if it's wrong.

"Your benefits are waived for 2026"

This means you aren't using your allowance this year. It usually happens because:

  • You chose to waive. During enrollment, you clicked Confirm waive to turn down the allowance.
  • You didn't finish enrolling in time. If you never accepted or waived, your status can change to waived after the enrollment deadline passes.
  • You asked us to waive it. For example, you told support you didn't want the benefit.

While you're waived, you won't get reimbursements, and the Reimbursements and Bank pages show Your allowance has been waived.

"You are claiming subsidy for 2026"

This means our records show you're taking a premium tax credit (also called a subsidy) from the marketplace instead of your StretchDollar allowance. It happens when:

  • you chose I'm using a marketplace subsidy instead when you waived, or
  • our team learned you're receiving a premium tax credit and updated your account.

You can't receive a premium tax credit and your StretchDollar allowance at the same time, so any reimbursements were stopped when this status was set.

How to fix it

If your status is wrong, email [email protected] with:

  1. your name and your employer;
  2. whether you want to accept your allowance;
  3. whether you're enrolled in a health plan, and whether you're receiving a premium tax credit for it.

You can't change this status yourself in the portal. Whether we can switch you back depends on timing: you need to be within your shopping window, or have a qualifying life event. See How do I change my benefit selection (from waive to accept or vice versa)?

If you're receiving a premium tax credit but want your StretchDollar allowance instead, you'll need to remove the tax credit with your marketplace first. See I accepted the subsidy and my StretchDollar benefit. What do I do?

Waived this year? You can accept for next year

Open Enrollment starts November 1. Even if you waived for 2026, you can accept your allowance for 2027 in your Benefits Portal, choose a plan, and set up auto-reimbursement for January.
